Our Approach to Membership

Yes—but in a different capacity.

Dr. Vivian provides pediatric primary care through Dunedin Pediatrics & Family, so she does not serve as a traditional adult primary care or family medicine physician.

However, she does work with adults through Intentional Wellness, where the focus is integrative medicine, prevention, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, metabolic health, healthy aging, and overall wellness.

Adults who work with Dr. Vivian through Intentional Wellness should continue to maintain their own primary care physician for routine adult medical care, screenings, acute illnesses, and ongoing management of conditions that require traditional Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

So if you're looking for a new family doctor for yourself, Dr. Vivian does not fill that traditional primary care role. But if you're looking for a physician who can take a deeper, more proactive and personalized approach to your health and wellness, we'd be happy to introduce you to Intentional Wellness.

We are willing to see sick patients who are not members if our schedule permits. Well-child and adult wellness care is limited to patients who are members of Dunedin Pediatrics & Family. Contact our office to check availability and pricing.

Our membership model was created because I believe pediatric primary care should be more than a series of rushed appointments when a child is sick.

Traditional insurance-based medicine largely pays physicians for individual visits and procedures. It does not adequately account for the time spent answering questions, reviewing records, coordinating care, monitoring a child over time, helping parents make decisions, or simply being accessible when a family needs guidance.

Membership allows us to practice differently.

It gives me the ability to maintain a smaller, more connected patient community so that I can know your child, understand your family's history and priorities, spend meaningful time with you, and be available for questions and concerns that may never require a formal office visit.

In that sense, membership is not simply payment for visits. It is an investment in an ongoing relationship with your pediatrician.

We originally called our annual fee a retainer, and that word actually describes the philosophy very well. Much like retaining an attorney or another trusted professional, you are establishing a relationship with someone you want to know your family, understand your circumstances, and be available to guide you when you need them.

That consistent support also allows the practice to maintain the staff, systems, accessibility, and physician availability necessary to care for families throughout the year—not only during periods when children happen to be sick.

The result is a model centered around continuity, prevention, access, relationship, and thoughtful medical decision-making, rather than simply moving from one reimbursable appointment to the next.

My goal is not to provide more medical care simply because you are a member.

My goal is to provide better-connected care—to know your child well enough that when something changes, we recognize it; to have enough time to look beneath the surface when something isn't right; and to be present when you need someone you trust to help you decide what comes next.

That is what membership makes possible.

We love healthy kids—and our goal is to help keep them that way.

A pediatric membership isn’t designed around how often your child gets sick. It’s designed around having a trusted pediatrician who knows your child and your family, is accessible when questions arise, and has the time to focus on prevention—not just illness.

Many of our healthiest families don’t need frequent sick visits. What they value is knowing that when something does come up—a fever before the weekend, a new rash, sleep concerns, nutrition questions, behavior changes, school struggles, puberty, anxiety, development, or simply, “Is this normal?”—they already have a pediatrician they know and trust.

Membership also gives us the opportunity to look beyond the immediate problem. We can spend more time discussing your child’s nutrition, sleep, growth, development, emotional wellness, lifestyle, and long-term health rather than waiting until something is wrong.

Think of it less like paying for a certain number of doctor visits and more like investing in an ongoing pediatric relationship.

You may not need us often—and that’s a good thing.

But when you do need us, we want to already know your child, understand your family, and be there to help you decide what comes next.

For many families, that continuity, accessibility, and peace of mind is the most valuable part of membership.
