Annual Family Retainer Fee


Due to the concierge aspect of our practice, we require an Annual Family Retainer fee of $179 per family. It is renewed annually. It is nonrefundable, not negotiable and cannot be used as payment for services provided.

As a concierge practice, Dr. Vivian Herrero personally takes all calls "after hours," on weekends, and all holidays. That's right! When you call at 7am Sunday with an urgent question, Dr. Vivian is on the other end of the line, available for your family. Just ask any member of the practice! As such, we have far fewer patients than a traditional doctor's office. That's a big reason why we're able to offer our members same-day appointments and personal attention. The Fee enables us to provide that 24/7 access to your Board-Certified physician. It also reserves your family as a member of the practice, entitled to all of the benefits of Concierge Medicine.

As your personal primary care provider, we take on the responsibility of being your Medical Home.

Pricing for Office Visits

We offer a hybrid model in our practice to accomodate the needs and budgets of our families. We understand that some families only seek care once or twice all year. For you, paying for individual visits makes more sense. That's our "Direct Pay" option. Other families have newborns, or children with chronic or recurrent health needs; you may seek care more frequently. Or perhaps you want to budget your expenses, knowing exactly how much your family's primary care will be each month. For you, we recommend a Concierge Membership Plan.


**Insurance will still be used for third-party services like vaccines, labs and X-rays, if covered by your insurance plan.

Concierge Membership Plans


  • Age 0-12 months                                                                        $125/month


  • >12 months to 48 months                                                       $75/month


  • >48 months to 17 years                                                            $50/month


  • 18 years and older  (*coming soon)                                    $85/month


  • These plans are based on your child's current age.
  • Patients that enroll in Concierge Membership Plans WAIVE the retainer fee. (SAVE $179)
  • There isn't an annual contract, but there is an initial minimum of THREE months participation. A $149 registration fee is due when you start the membership.
  •  A card must be kept securely on file to process payments.
  • "Visits" include well care, urgent/sick care, and telemedicine visits during office hours.
  • "Visits" do not encompass home visits, but these are available  at a discounted price of $250 per visit.
  • As a Concierge Member, ALL IN-HOUSE testing & labs are offered at no charge. (Strep, Urinalysis, COVID/FLU, Pregnancy, and Nebulizer treatments)
  • Discounts offered starting with the 3rd Child. Ask for more details.

  • Additional fees apply for in-office testing like Rapid Strep, Urinalysis, Pregnancy or COVID tests. The price is  disclosed prior to obtaining your consent to run any tests. No one likes surprises at the doctor's office!
  • Additional fees apply for office procedures like suture/staple removal, ear piercing, wart removal, etc. The price is disclosed prior to obtaining your consent to proceed.

Insurances Accepted

Dunedin Pediatrics & Family is a concierge practice and is no longer "in-network" with any insurance company. Insurance may still be used to pay for lab tests, vaccines, and other third-party vendors in-network with your insurance.  When a referral, test or medication is ordered, please verify with your insurance that the lab, radiology center, pharmacy or specialist is in network prior to scheduling. Please make sure you notify the doctor of your preferred in-network pharmacy to avoid delays in processing your prescription.

FAQs

  • When and how do I pay the Retainer fee?

    The Retainer fee is paid at the first visit, and thereafter once per year per family. So if your child comes in for the first visit on May 1st, the $179 is collected. If the next month your other child comes in or you as the adult come in for yourself, there is no additional charge. The whole family is covered for that whole year. But 12 months later on May 1 st , the $179 is due again, and covers everyone in the family, even if the family has grown!

  • What is not covered by the Retainer fee?

    The retainer fee is not a payment for office visits. It reserves your family as members of the practice. It covers after hours calls and allows us to spend more time with you at each visit. All medical services (office visits) are paid by "direct pay" at the time of service, or by a Concierge Membership Plan, both detailed above.  Feel free to call with quetions.

  • How much are office visits if I don’t have insurance? Or I have insurance, but this practice isn’t “in network.”

    Well child and well adult visits start at $150. Sick visits start at $110. Additional fees may include the cost of testing, like a “Rapid Strep” Test or pregnancy test, which would be charged in addition to the visit fee. Procedures like stitching, abscess drainage, ear lavage, etc would incur additional fees as well. You are welcome to get pricing information prior to testing and/or procedures so there’s no surprises.

  • Are you willing to see patients outside of your membership practice? (ie., What if we don’t want to pay the Retainer fee of $179 per year?)

    We are willing to see sick patients who are not members if our schedule permits. Well-child and adult wellness care is limited to patients who are members of Dunedin Pediatrics & Family. Contact our office to check availability and pricing.


    Patients that are travelers, visiting family, or on vacation, and require a one-time visit, are not required to pay the Retainer fee. Other exceptions can be made for patients who don’t intend to stay in the area.

  • Can I be “billed” for services if I don’t have the payment at the time of my appointment?

    Unfortunately, under most circumstances we cannot “bill you” for services rendered. Much like you would be expected to pay for your groceries as you leave the grocery store, we insist on payment when you receive services.
